Fattoria di Rodano is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico in the famed commune of Castellina in Chianti. The original farm dates from the middle ages, when it was used as a lodge for pilgrims travelling from northern Europe to Rome. Its pristine vineyard holdings, located at 200-300 meters elevation, bear out classic, soulful, sangiovese-based Chianti Classicos. The pride and joy of the property is their Viacosta vineyard, a perfect south-facing amphitheater vineyard of 35-45 year old vines. This vineyard provides the fruit for the estate's superb Chianti Riserva Viacosta, which is made only in the best of vintages. The wines are aged in a combination of traditional "Botte Grande" and small "Barriques", mostly used. The result are wines with new world purity and and old-world soul.
