Wine Advocate 91 points - Egly-Ouriet’s NV Brut Premier Cru les Vignes de Vrigny is 100% Pinot Meunier that was disgorged in January 2014, after it spent 42 months on the lees. Golden in color, it offers a clear, fresh and complex bouquet of matured apples, raisins, nougat, red berries and some floral notes. Very delicate on the palate, this is a remarkable, finesse-full, lighthearted Champagne of great elegance. The 12.5% of alcohol is feather-light here, though the finish shows structure as well. This is a lovely Champagne for breakfast, aperitif or for its own merit. Surely one of the finest Pinot Meuniers I have tasted this year.
Vinous 91 points - The NV Brut Premier Cru Les Vignes de Vrigny is bright, finely sculpted and chiseled throughout. This is an especially vibrant version of the Les Vignes de Vrigny, Egly-Ouriet’s 100% Pinot Meunier. Candied lemon, chamomile, dried pear, almonds, white flowers and mint are all nicely delineated. With time in the glass, the wine softens nicely through the mid-palate and finish. Classy and understated to the core, the Les Vignes de Vrigny is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. In this release, the Vignes de Vrigny is 50% 2011, 25% 2010, 25% 2009, aged in equal parts tank and neutral oak. Disgorged: July 2015.
The NV Brut Premier Cru Les Vignes de Vrigny emerges from the glass with warm, toasty notes that lead to an expressive core of pears, nuts, spices, licorice and flowers. The Vignes de Vrigny develops lovely amber, burnished tones in the glass that add complexity to the fruit. This mid-weight Champagne should continue to drink beautifully for at least a few years. The Vignes de Vrigny is 100% Pinot Meunier that spent 36 months on its lees prior to being disgorged in July, 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2016. (Nov 2015)
