Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc from estate vineyards in the Leyda Valley. The grapes were hand harvested in the The grapes were harvested between March 21 and April 15, in different stages, with 20.8-22.8º Brix, depending on the exposure of the parcels and the clone. The 2013 harvest stood out as the coldest season ever, leading to lower pH levels, higher acidity and juiciness, and a powerful aromatic expression. At the winery, the grapes were macerated in a pneumatic press at low temperatures for eight hours in order to enhance aromas and flavors. Afterwards, the wine was cooled to controlled temperatures (46º F) before being clarified to 60-120 NTU. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out at low temperatures (54-55°F, finishing at 60°F) in stainless steel tanks for 18 days. The wine was aged on its lees for five months to round it out and improve the texture on the palate.

Planted on rolling hills with low-nutrient, loamy-clay soils, the Leyda vineyards are ideal for producing small yields of concentrated grapes. Within the vineyard, the architecture, density and irrigation levels are constantly adjusted to attain the perfect ripening conditions for each variety. The winery uses the most modern equipment for wine production, including pneumatic presses, gentle pumps and a temperature interchange system for both grapes and must. The cellar has 56 stainless steel tanks of varying capacities, each with temperature control systems. This diversity allows Leyda to separate different lots, and then classify the various components for final blending. The winery uses 70% French and 30% American oak barrels, from the world”s most respected coopers and works with different oak styles to obtain more complexity and elegance in its wines. Viviana Navarrete is the exceptionally talented winemaker behind Leyda and part of the new generation of winemakers. She graduated at the top of her class with a degree in oenology from Pontifica Unversidad Catolica de Chile. Viviana”s vision is to harness the potential of the vineyards in Leyda Valley to demonstrate the ability of this area to produce extraordinary and expressive cool-climate wines.
