Vinous 94 points - Opaque ruby. Blackberry, candied plum, cassis, licorice, bitter chocolate and potpourri on the complex, intensely perfumed nose. Dense, concentrated and seamless on the palate, offering primary black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors and a smoky mineral accent that adds back-end vivacity. Finishes with broad, supple tannins, an echo of licorice and outstanding mineral-driven persistence.  (Feb 2015)

Wine maker notes
The ”Grandes Places” cuvee is produced in the place known as ”Les Grandes Places” above Verenay. This vineyard is mostly planted with old ”Serines” (traditional Ampuis Syrah). The main features of Cote-Rotie wines from the land in ”Grandes Places” are a strong structure, a nose of black fruits, a little bit rough too, very spicy and long-lasting in the mouth. These are wines to be served with game or very tasty red meat, once they have aged for a few years.

For as long as we can remember, in the garden or in the vineyard, farming has always been a part of our family history. We are fervent farmers and fervent winegrowers. This passion for the soil, vines, good wine and good food, means that we continue to follow our family heritage. It drives us to cultivate our Earth in the most natural way possible, whether it is on the vertiginous slopes of Cote-Rotie or on the softer grounds of the Coteaux du Lyonnais. The estate is currently run by Gilbert Clusel, Brigitte Roch and their son Guillaume Clusel. It has eight hectares of vineyards, half a hectare of Condrieu and the rest Cote-Rotie. On three historic vineyards of the Lyonnais Ampuis (Aoc Cote-Rotie), Condrieu (Aoc Condrieu), Millery (Aoc Coteaux Du Lyonnais)
