The reason of this name: If Barbara Fores means respect and tradition of making wine, transmitted from father to son for over a hundred years, through the Templari we wanted to rediscover our past, the past of a country searching for the energy and the organization that the knights of the Order of the Temple showed when they restock our zone.
With the term “red wine” we refer to the color of wine, more red tan black. And also to recover the Catalan way of defining this kind of wine. “Red wine” is an expression imported most recently from the Red Spanish (Spanish “tinto”).
The label: Follows the seal of the Order of the Temple which depicts two knights on a horse with the slogan Militum Sigilum Templo Cristi. The label draws a horse galloping with two warrior-monks who represent austerity, but also the strength and unity of the people by the cross.
The Property: Situated under the limestone cliffs of the Serra de Pandols and the shady side of La Teuleria.
The varieties: Morenillo (65%) and Red Grenache (35%). The Morenillo is almost lost. We initiated its recovering in recent years with native plants. Everything in it is large in size: the trunk, the branches, leaves and grapes.
|With the name of Barbara Fores, Carme Ferrer and her husband Manuel Sanmartin pay tribute to the great-great grandmother, born in Gandesa in 1828.
Barbara Fores, the daughter of a wine merchant (Rafael Fores) and a land owner (Maria Figueras) was a person with a strong personality that influenced decisively his son Rafael. For this reason, Rafael Ferrer Fores, pharmacist and erudite wine grower, built himself the cellar in his father’s house, where in the late 19th century he began to bottle wine.
So Barbara Fores means respect and tradition in the wine elaboration, passed on from parents to children during over one hundred years in our family house.
Barbara Fores also means the capability of each new generation to perfect and improve the inheritance received.
