Appearance: Rich ruby red with purplish highlights.
Bouquet: Fruity on the nose, with aromas of wild red berryfruit and notes of anise and sweet liquorice (classic to the sangiovese of this area), well melded into subtle nuances of spice.
Palate: Velvety mouthfeel, with a finish laced with aromatic fruit and delicate vanilla.
Vinous 88 points - The 2012 Chianti Colli Senesi is an attractive, juicy wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Dried dark cherries, underbrush and leather are some of the notes that inform this stylish, mid-weight Chianti from Farnetella.
Wine Enthusiast 88 points - Aromas of woodland berry, violet, underbrush and a hint of tilled earth lead the nose. The savory palate doles out fleshy black cherry, crushed raspberry, spice and a tobacco note. Firm but polished tannins support the juicy flavors.
Deep ruby with violet hues; fruity bouquet of berries & brushwood, well integrated w/light, pleasing spice. Round & mellow on the palate, w/a delightful finish of red fruit & vanilla.
92% Sangiovese and 8% Merlot; delectably forward, fruity and appealing
|Wine maker notes
|Made predominantly from sangiovese grapes, quality-selected in Farnetella, in the commune of Sinalunga, southeast of Siena and northwest of Montepulciano. The vineyards are almost all southwest-facing, sited on a well-exposed and -ventilated
bench, at elevations of between 220 and 560 metres. The soils are layered sand and silt, with some presence of clay, and larger percentages of rock and limestone.
