All the great wines of the piemontese tradition are varietals, but for same years wines made the blending of two or more varieties have been grown in Piedmont too. These wines which are meeting with great success, are known as vini di fantasia, and are grouped together under the d.o.c. status denomination of Langhe. Produced from the unusual combination of nebbiolo and freisa grapes, Carlin is the winery’s contribution in this field. Deep red in colour, it has plenty of fruit on the nose, softened by maturing in oak barrels. The structure and smoothness provided by the nebbiolo variety, and the low yields achieved in the vineyard, give this wine a lot of personality and a long cellar life.
